Car rental Chile

Chile is a country located in South America. It haves a population of 16,572,475 people and it is using the Chilean peso ($). In Chile you have to drive on the right direction of the road.

To rent a car in Chile, drivers must be at least 21 years old (depending on the vehicle category) and have held their license for over a year. You also need your driving license, an international driving license, your passport and a valid credit card. You give way to vehicles on the right, however all corners will have street signs telling you what to do. Seat belts are mandatory, the use of a mobile phone while driving is prohibited (with the exception of a hands-free system) and smoking whilst driving is prohibited as is using headphones. Most of the roads in the major urban areas are in good shape. However some streets in the city are not so well, so you must drive very carefully. All drivers who get into an accident in Chile have to undergo a mandatory blood alcohol test. Some inter-city roads are tolled and many urban roads around Santiago include electronic free-flow tolls, so be sure that your rental car is equipped with an electronic tag as there are no toll booths. There are some reasonably parking lots in the cities and there is also metered parking on the roads. Petrol stations are open from 8am to 8pm. Make sure that you refuel when you can as petrol stations can be few and far between.
