To rent a car in Finland you need a valid driving license, an ID or a passport and a valid credit card. Car rental companies will need and International Driving Permit for driving licenses issued outside EU. Vehicles cannot idle for more than 2 minutes but if the temperature is -15 degrees or lower idle time can be up to 4 minutes. Parking must be done in places where the vehicle is visible, always facing the traffic and only in zones where parking is permitted. There are no toll roads or bridges in Finland. All types of fuel are available and gas stations have automated pumps that accept both cash and credit cards.
