Car rental Iceland

Iceland is a country located in Northern Europe. It haves a population of 320,060 people and it is using the Icelandic króna (kr). In Iceland you have to drive on the right direction of the road.

To rent a car in Iceland you need an identity card or passport, a valid credit card and a driving license in English. In some cases an International Driving Permit is also necessary and it is issued in your country. Rental car companies will rent a car to drivers older than 21 years old and to drivers older than 25 if you want a jeep. There is one main road that circles all Iceland while secondary roads in the mainland are mostly narrow gravel roads. Rivers are unbridged and there are many one way bridges where you have to stop and give way to a car approaching the bridge from the other side. It is very possible to find animals roaming the streets and you have to slow down. Lights should be always on and all passengers have to wear seatbelts. Speed limits must be respected, even though there are not speed signs on the streets. Parking is very easy to find in big cities, you can park at the side of the street with park meter or in a parking lot, where it is cheaper than the street. There are no tolls except a tunnel 30 km north of Reykjavik. There are gas stations in the cities with automatic pumps that accept credit cards, but there are also attendants usually from 10:00-20:00 every day.
